Quite a sports weekend here in the bi-state area. The top football team in the state heads to Lincoln, Nebraska for a primetime showdown against the Cornhuskers on Saturday. On Sunday, the Rams are off which means non NFL-Ticket subscribers won't be subjected to crappy football - give or take a Chiefs game.

And then on Monday, his royal highness returns to the Stl airwaves. Oh joy. Oh Bliss.

Speaking of Monday, let's revisit last Monday, shall we?

Monday
The last inspirational Rams poster of the Scott Linehan era, though something tells us Linehan will find a way to stick around, through body or spirit.

We won't get into this mess right here, other than to say that we're hoping this firing is the first of many within the Rams organization - simply because this job cannot possibly be appealing to any *good* external candidate on the market, whether it's mid-season or off-season.  Bad players, bad front office, bad stadium, bad stadium contract, bad tradition, bad reputation, bad fans.

Welcome to the organization.

Tuesday
On his way out the door, Scott Linehan could find solace in the fact that someone with a beating heart was bound to purchase a Linehan autographed photo.

a) the text of the autograph message reads "To a great 2008!" If by "great" Linehan meant sipping margaritas in Puerto Rico while raking in a salary then 2008 has indeed been great.

b) the gestures and profile of Linehan sums up the era quite well. What the heck is going on? What was that? Are you really trying to tell me our guys can't spear the quarterbacks' legs?

Wednesday
Quite frankly, we here at Stl SportsMag are trying to put a stop to baseball stupidity. It's not going too well. We'll need everyone's help. They're like the baseball Bin Ladens.

We're still confident that Pujols will win it in the end, but who knows how many Jon Heyman's and Mark Kriegel's there are in the country who actually have MVP votes.  Fighting baseball stupidity is definitely an uphill battle.

Thursday
This man deserves his own statue outside Busch Stadium -- where the first one was.

As you can see, he's altered his get-up a bit, but his desire for the birds on the bat hasn't changed at all.  It's good to know he's still pumping along, and will see the Cardinals through a baseball-less October in '07 and '08.
