So you're team is struggling, you say, recipients of the worst record in the National League? You probably think you don't have a reason to get off the couch and head to the ballgame, do you?

There's the possibility you might get to see Adam Dunn hit a 440 foot bomb, Ken Griffey, Jr. gracefully stroll the outfield and maybe even witness the feel good story that is Josh Hamilton, but the Reds suck this season and you're an unabashed bandwagon fan.

But all that gets tossed out the window when you realize you have the chance to get your hands on this:

That's right, baby; you become one of the first 20,000 folks with a paid admission and you too can look like a wannabe-rocker famous for serenading Johnny Damon and David Ortiz.

Sure Bronson will be sitting in the dugout Friday night with tennis shoes on being that June 8th is 2 days after his most recent start... that doesn't matter. What matters is that 20,000 fans are supporting their pitcher of choice by sporting flowing locks and presumably playing the air guitar for 9 innings.

And it doesn?t matter that, well, I?ll let my colleague Matt Sebek explain the "stupidity" of the promotion:
"It's kind of stupid to run these "character-based" promotions. Let the street vendors handle these types of things for $25 a pop. The only people that are going to appreciate these things are the drunken bleacher hooligans.  I don't see grandma and grandpa giving due respect to the Bronson Arroyo hat on Friday night."

Well said, Mr. Sebek. However, I can say with certainty that if the Cardinals did something similar to this, I?d be first in line to buy tickets ? even if they were in last place.

Paging Bill DeWitt and the Cardinals Hierarchy: where the hell is the Tony LaRussa hat/hair combo? I want to have hair that hovers over my ears. I'm a paying customer -- is that too much too ask?
